Green. Bean. Casserole. & The G. You Are…

It’s the most wonderful time of the year: The Holidays! Pass the stuffing please. More wine? Duh and Duh. That’s right people. The Holidays are here in all their glory. What does that mean for you?  It means that you have to keep your “G composure” during this special time; the spirit animal that makes you who you are at any given moment. If you read this blog, chances are, you are a G.

With the parties, potlucks, and planned meet ups, a G can get thrown off on their game.  Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been waiting for these fancy days, all year-long (my outfits become more special and glittery as the year progresses). As with anything else, Shenanigans are abound. Don’t get caught up. Here are some things to remember when coming together with friends and family:

1.      Don’t get too crazy on the booze. Now, these are celebratory times and I will be getting my groove on accordingly. Just remember to be smart about the amount you consume. You don’t want to be too hungover on Thanksgiving morning in front of your godson, Jimmy.  You should be enjoying the company you are with and making memories instead of lying on the couch like a beached whale because you wanted to do 4 rounds of SoCo and Lime shots with your friends from high school who you only tolerate once a year.

2.      Wear your holiday make up right!  Just because you discovered Sephora yesterday, doesn’t mean you should splash on: Glitter eye-shadow, cake face, shimmer, and bold lips as the same time. This can be overwhelming to look at. And No instagram filter can help you out.

3.      Don’t be a grouch. The holidays occur once per year. If your heart doesn’t melt at the sight of a baked ham (turkey for my Halal people), you got problems. Enjoy your friends, family, & lovers because this is best time to ask to be forgiven for the habitual line-stepping you have committed all year long, and it be granted!

4.      Take a million pictures! Holiday photos are the best! Everyone except cake face (#2) usually looks swell in them. Don’t front yall. Capture these times.

5.      Lastly, stop and take a second to reflect on what truly matters. You got time off work so use it to take a breather and chill. Leave the hustle and bustle behind. Being a G means staying calm and collected.

Now eat like there is no tomorrow and if you’re not into that, get involved with local shelters and soup kitchens to help serve some meals. to your local community.
